The Tsleil-Waututh Nation is making a big move. They are buying the casino part of Hastings Racecourse & Casino from Great Canadian Entertainment. This deal was signed on November 7, 2025. It follows an earlier agreement made on June 6, 2025. Hastings Casino is a well-known spot in Vancouver. It has over 400 slot machines and offers food and drinks. The casino has been a part of the community for a long time. The Tsleil-Waututh Nation is excited about this deal. They see it as a step towards controlling their own economy. Justin George, the Chief, thanked the Nation's leaders and staff for making this happen. Great Canadian Entertainment is proud to sell the casino to the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. Matt Anfinson, the CEO, said they will help with the transition. The deal still needs approval from regulators and the City of Vancouver. The Tsleil-Waututh Nation is a Coast Salish group. Their territory is around Burrard Inlet. They have a responsibility to care for their land. The Nation is growing and working to reclaim their traditions. Great Canadian Entertainment is a big name in Canadian gaming. They have properties across the country. They started in 1982 and now have over 7, 500 employees.
