So, there's this big shot from the U. S. Treasury, Scott Bessent, who was chatting on TV recently. He's been busy talking to China about some serious stuff, like tariffs and trade deals. He said they might have worked out a truce, which is good news because the U. S. was threatening to slap a huge 155% tariff on China. That's a lot of extra money on imports! But now, it seems like that's not happening, at least for now. Bessent was in Malaysia, hanging out with the President, and he had a lot to say. He mentioned that the U. S. and China talked about a bunch of things, like rare earth metals (which are in lots of electronics and cars), American farmers selling soybeans to China, and even the fentanyl crisis. He said that American farmers should be pretty happy with the deal they worked out. There was some drama with Argentina too. The U. S. gave them some financial help, and some people were worried that China would use that to gain leverage over the U. S. But Bessent said not to worry, the U. S. isn't losing money, and everything is back to normal in the soybean market. They also talked about TikTok. Bessent said they finally worked out a deal, but he didn't give any details. He just said that the leaders of both countries would finalize it. Bessent also had some strong words about the U. S. government being shut down. He said it's an embarrassment and that it's hurting the economy. He even said that the Democrats are to blame and that they should just pass a clean budget to keep the government running. Oh, and there's more drama with Canada. The President wants to raise tariffs on them because of some ads they put out. Bessent said that's not cool and that it's messing up their relationship. Lastly, Bessent talked about inflation. He said it's going down, but people might not feel it yet because some things are still expensive. He also said that Russia is feeling the pain from the sanctions, even though some Russian guys are saying otherwise.
