Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently made headlines for a peculiar tribute to the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk. At a vigil held at the Kennedy Center, Kennedy shared a story about their first meeting, which left many people scratching their heads.
Kennedy claimed that he and Kirk became close friends after their first meeting in July 2001. He described them as "soulmates" and "spiritual brothers. " However, this statement raised eyebrows because Kirk was only seven years old in 2001.
Many people on social media pointed out the oddity of the situation. Some speculated that Kennedy might have meant 2021 instead of 2001. In 2021, Kennedy did appear on Kirk's podcast for a nearly hour-long episode. During that time, they discussed Kennedy's book targeting Dr. Anthony Fauci and their shared views on vaccines.
Kennedy also mentioned a conversation he had with Kirk about the dangers they both face. He recalled Kirk asking if he was scared to die. Kennedy responded by saying that losing constitutional rights was worse than dying.
The vigil for Kirk was attended by several prominent conservative figures, including Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, and House Speaker Mike Johnson. Notably absent was President Donald Trump, who expressed his sadness and outrage over Kirk's killing but chose not to attend the vigil.
Trump did, however, vow to attend Kirk's funeral in Arizona. He mentioned that he would be taking some people with him on Air Force One.
