Emmanuel Macron, the French president, is in the UK for a three-day state visit. This is a big deal because it's the first time a French president has come to Britain for a state visit since 2008. It's also the first time a leader from the European Union has visited since Brexit. Macron and his wife Brigitte arrived at RAF Northolt in London. They were welcomed by Prince William and his wife Kate. Then, they met King Charles and Queen Camilla in Windsor. Lots of people lined the streets to see the open-top carriages carrying the leaders and their families. During this visit, Macron and the UK's Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, will talk about important issues. One big topic is how to stop small boats crossing the Channel. The UK government says France is key to solving this problem and other issues like growth, defense, and security. King Charles and Macron had a ceremonial inspection of troops at Windsor Castle. After that, they had lunch together. Later, there will be a state banquet at Windsor Castle. King Charles will give a speech about the shared history and culture between the UK and France. He will also talk about the challenges both countries face, like threats to defense, technology, and climate change. This visit is important for both countries. It's a chance to strengthen their partnership, especially when there's uncertainty about the US's support for issues like helping Ukraine.
