She argued that the Federal Reserve needs to stay independent and not be influenced by political pressure. The judge also said that Trump's reasons for wanting to fire Cook were not legally valid. Cook's legal team celebrated the ruling, saying it shows how important it is to keep the Federal Reserve free from political interference. They also said Cook will keep doing her job as a governor. Last month, Trump asked Cook to resign after some claims were made about her financial history. Cook said she would not be bullied into stepping down and would answer any serious questions about her past. Cook was chosen for her position by former President Joe Biden in 2022. Her term is set to last until 2038. She made history as the first Black woman to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
