A fresh face is joining the team working on the White House ballroom. Shalom Baranes Associates, a well-known architecture firm based in Washington, D. C. , has been brought on board. This move comes as the project shifts into a new phase, requiring different expertise. The current architect, James McCrery, will stay involved but in a consulting role. He and President Trump have had some disagreements. These include the ballroom's size and how it fits with the main White House building. McCrery's spokesperson did not comment on the situation. White House officials are excited about the new addition. They believe Shalom Baranes' experience will greatly benefit the project. They even predict the ballroom will be the "greatest addition to the White House since the Oval Office. " The White House plans to submit construction plans to the National Capital Planning Commission this month. The commission will review the plans at a "normal and deliberative pace. " They will not be involved in site preparation or demolition. Meanwhile, Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal introduced new legislation. The "No Palaces Act" would require NCPC review before any demolition activities. It would also need congressional approval for privately-funded White House construction projects. Blumenthal hopes this prevents future presidents from destroying historic sites without proper approval. President Trump shared his thoughts on the construction. He said it's going well, but first lady Melania Trump isn't a fan of the noise. "She hears pile drivers all day and night, " Trump said. Despite this, he believes the ballroom will be the "finest ever built. "
