In the early hours of October 8th, a man named Ryan Houser, aged 34, found himself in serious trouble with the law. He was accused of causing quite a commotion at a neighbor's house in Pasadena. According to the police, Houser shouted racial slurs and demanded the residents come outside before he started breaking things.
Houser is now facing some serious charges. These include hate crimes, attempted burglary, and damaging property. If he is found guilty on all counts, he could be looking at up to six and a half years behind bars. That's a lot of time to think about his actions.
The homeowner called the police around 3:30 a. m. They reported that a man was ringing their doorbell and shouting offensive words. This man was later identified as Houser. He didn't stop there. He took a wooden pole and smashed a window and the front door. He even tried to open the locked door before taking his anger out on two parked cars, cracking their windshields.
The police are treating this as a hate crime. They believe Houser's actions were motivated by racial bias. After the incident, Houser was taken to the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis. He faced five charges, but a judge released him on his own recognizance the next day.
The case was initially handled in Glen Burnie District Court but was later moved to circuit court. The next hearing is scheduled for December 12th. It's a reminder that actions have consequences, and hate speech can lead to serious legal trouble.
