A man from New Jersey, Jon Cannon, is now behind bars in Florida. He got 17 years in prison for a 2021 crime. He snuck into a college dorm and touched a sleeping student inappropriately.
This wasn't his first time doing something like this. He had already spent time in jail in New Jersey. That was for similar crimes at two different colleges in 2015 and 2016. One victim even saw him doing something wrong right next to her bed.
After getting out of jail in 2018, he didn't stay out of trouble for long. He was soon charged with stalking and sent back to prison.
In Florida, the victim woke up to find a man touching her. He lied and said he was a neighbor named Joe. She screamed, pushed him away, and called the police. But he ran off before they could catch him.
Police later found out it was Cannon. They used traffic cameras to see his car and got his DNA from a soda bottle. He had walked into the dorm through an unlocked door.
At the time of his arrest, he was living in Florida and working at a pizza place. His past in New Jersey caught up with him, and now he's serving time in a Florida prison.
