In the quiet town of Bedford, Pennsylvania, a Puerto Rican veteran named Jessie Anderson is making waves. She's not happy with President Biden. After a rally for J. D. Vance, Jessie, a long-time Army vet, spoke out about Biden's recent comments. The president had called Trump supporters "garbage" in response to a comedian's joke about Puerto Rico at a Trump rally. Jessie doesn't mince words. "Biden talks, and garbage comes out, " she says.
Jessie, who was born in nearby Johnstown and has Puerto Rican roots, believes Biden's comments are dividing the country. "We have different political parties, so why name-call? " she asks. She thinks the Democratic Party is fueling division and hate. "Our nation needs unity, not more division, " she says.
Jessie isn't shy about her support for Trump. She wears a "Latina Veteran for Trump" T-shirt and encourages her fellow Puerto Ricans to vote for him. "Look at your wallets, look at food prices. Trump can help, " she says. She thinks Biden hasn't done enough to help Puerto Rico, especially after Hurricane Ernesto.
The presidential race is close, with Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris neck and neck. Pennsylvania, with its large Puerto Rican population, is a key state. Jessie's voice is just one among many in this polarizing election.
