Alamosa's Ethan Merrick: A Close Call at State Cross Country

At the state cross country meet, Alamosa High School's Ethan Merrick came in second place. He ran the course in 16:06. 9, just 12 seconds behind the winner. Merrick, a sophomore, was motivated to win but couldn't quite catch up to the leader. He plans to try again next year and focus on track in the spring. The Alamosa boys' team finished in fourth place overall. Other runners from Alamosa also scored points for the team. In the girls' race, Alamosa took sixth place. Hannah DeLaCerda led the team with a 16th place finish. In Class 2A, Monte Vista's Shae Romero was the top female runner from the San Luis Valley, finishing in third place. Del Norte's boys' team came in fifth place, with Mads Kreutzer leading the way. The state meet was a big event with many teams and runners competing. It's a chance for athletes to show their skills and push themselves to the limit. Running is a tough sport, but these athletes showed their dedication and hard work.
