Aldis Break-In Leads to Jail Time and Repayment

A man found guilty of breaking into an Aldi store in North Huntingdon has been sentenced to time behind bars. Angel E. Ortega-Yanez, who is 32 years old, admitted to his crimes. These included breaking and entering, causing damage, stealing, and having tools to commit a crime. He also threw something at a police car, smashing its windshield. The incident happened early in the morning on October 14. Police were called to the Aldi on Norwin Avenue around 2 a. m. They saw a man running away from the store. Ortega-Yanez had used a hammer to break in. He stole two cash boxes with about $800 inside. The court ordered Ortega-Yanez to pay back $1, 400 to the North Huntingdon police. This is known as restitution. He will spend seven months to four years in prison. After that, he will be on probation for two years. Ortega-Yanez had an interpreter help him understand the court proceedings. Ortega-Yanez has already spent time in jail since his arrest. The court gave him credit for this time served. This means it will be subtracted from his total sentence.
