Andy Richter, known for his work in late-night TV, recently shared his honest thoughts on his weight-loss journey. He didn't shy away from talking about using GLP-1 medications to help him shed pounds while competing on Dancing with the Stars. Richter, now 59, openly discussed his decision to use these medications during an appearance on The Morning After Show.
Richter has been open about his struggles with weight and his desire to use GLP-1 medications in the past. However, he mentioned that these medications were previously too expensive and not covered by his insurance. He believes that using science to aid in weight loss is no different than using medication for mental health. He compared the stigma around weight-loss drugs to the stigma around antidepressants when they first became popular.
Richter also talked about how Dancing with the Stars has been a game-changer for him physically. He admitted that in the past, he might have started a fitness routine after a transformative experience, but he knew he wouldn't stick with it. This time, he's determined to keep up with his fitness journey even after the show ends.
Before joining Dancing with the Stars, Richter admitted he was in a bit of a rut, especially when it came to physical activity. He described himself as "curmudgeonly" about cardio and said his main forms of exercise were gardening, walking dogs, and playing with his three-year-old adopted daughter. He knew he needed to make a change, so he immediately said yes to the opportunity to compete on the show.
Richter is now looking forward to testing his endurance and pushing himself further in his fitness journey. He's curious to see how his body will respond to different forms of exercise now that he's built up some stamina from dancing. He's also grateful for the physical transformation he's experienced so far and is excited to continue challenging himself.
