Antonio Brown, the former NFL star, is heading back to Miami to face serious charges. He chose not to fight being sent back to Florida from a New Jersey jail. This decision came after his arrest in Dubai, where he had been living.
Brown is accused of a shocking act. After a boxing match, he allegedly grabbed a gun from a security guard and fired at a man he had earlier fought with. The victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, said one of the bullets barely missed his neck. Video footage supports this claim, showing Brown advancing with the gun and firing.
Interestingly, Brown wasn't arrested right away. Police initially didn't know Nantambu was a victim. It took until May 21 for Nantambu to give a full statement, identifying Brown as the shooter.
Brown's social media posts suggest he was in Dubai for months. It's unclear why it took so long to arrest him or why he was taken to New Jersey instead of Miami. Also, it's not clear if he has a lawyer yet.
After the incident, Brown claimed he was defending himself. He said multiple people tried to steal his jewelry and hurt him. If found guilty, he could face up to 15 years in prison and a $10, 000 fine.
Brown's NFL career was impressive. He played for 12 years, mostly with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win Super Bowl LV. His stats are impressive: 928 receptions, over 12, 000 yards, and 88 touchdowns.
