In the quiet town of LeRoy, Minnesota, an unusual event unfolded over the weekend. An ATM was stolen from First State Bank, leading to a dramatic chase and eventual arrest. The Mower County Sheriff's Office received an alarm from the bank around 3:20 AM on Saturday. Deputies were told to look out for a full-size silver pickup truck, believed to be involved in the theft.
Deputies spotted the truck and attempted a traffic stop. This quickly escalated into a high-speed chase. The chase ended abruptly when the driver lost control, and the truck rolled over on a nearby gravel road. A man was seen fleeing the crash site, but deputies were unable to catch him immediately.
The search continued into Mitchell County, Iowa, where a man matching the suspect's description was found and detained. As of now, the suspect is being held as a "subject of interest. " The exact amount of cash stolen and the extent of the damages are still under investigation.
Sheriff Steven Sandvik emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the Mower County Sheriff's Office. This incident serves as a reminder that even small-town banks can face significant security challenges.
