Bob Popik, a familiar voice at Baltimore Ravens and Orioles games, is now facing a serious health battle. At 59, he's moving to hospice care as he fights advanced pancreatic cancer. Popik, known for his DJ skills, has been sharing his journey on Facebook, posting photos of loved ones visiting him in the hospital.
Music has been a big part of Popik's life and career. He started his own DJ company in 1993 and joined the Orioles in 2000. For over two decades, he brought the energy to Camden Yards. In 2010, he also became the Ravens' gameday DJ, playing tunes at M&T Bank Stadium until he was hospitalized in October. He even spun records for Navy football games since 2011.
Despite his health struggles, Popik isn't ready to give up. He's planning to help pick music for future Ravens games. His bosses have even reached out to him for a music meeting. Popik admits he's not great at going to the doctor, but he finally went after a fall didn't heal like he thought it would.
Doctors found cancer in his pancreas, liver, and spine. They've given him six to nine months to live, but Popik isn't letting that bring him down. He's staying positive and fighting every step of the way. Popik believes staying optimistic is key to beating this tough fight.
