Bezos Backs New Ownership Move at Liverpool FC
Jeff Bezos is joining a group that is buying a share of Liverpool Football Club. The group is led by businessman Amit Bhatia. They are working with the current owners, FSG, to get a stake in the famous English team.
The deal values the club at about seven point one billion dollars for roughly one third of its ownership. If the group decides, they can increase their share to a controlling interest within a year, with the club then valued near eight billion dollars.
Amit Bhatia will take on the role of vice chairman and will sit on the club’s expanded board. Jeff Bezos will not have a board seat, but other members of his group will be involved in the club’s governance.
FSG President Mike Gordon said the club has always looked past a single season and made choices that protect its future. He added that this way of thinking continues to draw interest from respected investors worldwide, and that Amit and his partners share the same long‑term view and love for what makes Liverpool special.
