Molson Coors Beverage Company is making some big changes. They plan to cut about 400 jobs, which is 9% of their salaried workforce in the Americas, by the end of this year. This is part of a bigger plan to restructure the company.
Why are they doing this? Well, it's not easy out there. Companies in the U. S. that sell alcohol are facing some tough times. People are spending less because of inflation, and there are also issues with tariffs that are making things more unpredictable.
But it's not all bad news. Molson Coors says they want to use this restructuring to put more money into their main products. That includes beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and energy drinks. However, this won't come cheap. They expect to spend between $35 million and $50 million in the fourth quarter to make these changes.
Molson Coors is a big deal in the beer world. They have breweries in Colorado and own popular brands like Coors, Molson, and Miller. As of December 2024, they had about 16, 800 employees worldwide.
Things have been a bit rocky for them lately. Back in August, they said they expected their annual profit to drop. One reason is the cost of aluminum for their beverage cans, which has been affected by tariffs.
Despite all this, their shares weren't doing much in early trading. They recently named Rahul Goyal as their new CEO, so maybe he'll have some ideas to turn things around.
