In a bizarre turn of events, a man accused of kidnapping for cryptocurrency was let out of jail on a huge bond. John Woeltz, the suspect, had to wear an electronic monitor and stay at home, except for a few reasons like seeing a doctor or going to court. He also had to give up his passport. The prosecutors were not happy about this. They said Woeltz could run away because he has a private jet and a helicopter. His friend, William Duplessie, is still in jail. Both men say they are not guilty. They are accused of kidnapping, assault, and other crimes. They supposedly lured a man to a fancy house in SoHo, New York. There, they threatened to hurt his family and tortured him with electric wires and drugs. They even hung him from a high staircase. After 17 days, the victim gave them his computer password and escaped. He ran to the police, bleeding and barefoot. Woeltz's lawyer did not say much. Duplessie's lawyer did not respond to requests for comment. Earlier, they had said the victim was there willingly and could leave anytime.
