Russian President Vladimir Putin wrapped up the BRICS summit in Kazan, where leaders from various countries discussed strengthening financial ties and creating alternatives to Western-controlled systems. The summit, lasting three days, attracted leaders from 36 countries, showing the world that Russia isn't isolated despite Western efforts.
BRICS, originally formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa in 2009, now includes countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia, with more eager to join. Putin criticized Western tactics, claiming they spark conflicts, using Ukraine as an example. He wants a new payment system to bypass sanctions.
China's President Xi Jinping emphasized BRICS' role in global security, proposing a peace plan for Ukraine, which Ukraine rejected. Putin and Xi's partnership has grown since Russia's Ukraine invasion. India, a long-time Russia ally, wants peace but hasn't condemned Russia's actions.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres attended, urging an end to conflicts. Russian media portrayed the summit as a victory, highlighting BRICS' global influence.
