Get ready for some history-making plays at the Alamo Bowl! Brigham Young University's football team is set to face off against Colorado this Saturday, and several players are just a few yards or points away from breaking records. Quarterback Jake Retzlaff is closing in on a huge milestone. If he throws for 204 yards against the Buffaloes, he’ll become the 16th BYU quarterback to reach 3, 000 passing yards in a single season. That's a big deal, especially considering only a few quarterbacks, like Jaren Hall and Zach Wilson, have done it since 2010. Kicker Will Ferrin has been nailing his field goals all season. One more successful kick and he’ll set a new single-season record for BYU. That’s an impressive feat any way you look at it. Receiver Chase Roberts needs just one more good game to climb the ranks. With 16 yards against Colorado, he’ll surpass Jonny Harline and secure his spot in the top 20all-time leaders for the Cougars. Keelan Marion, one of the team's standout return players, is also chasing a big number. He needs 93 all-purpose yards to hit the 1, 000-yard mark for the season. That would make him the 10th leading returner in BYU history. Jack Kelly has been a force to reckon with in his first season. One more sack and he’ll have the most in a season for a BYU player since 2018. That’s no small achievement for a rookie. The stakes are high for the Cougars' defense, too. If they can intercept Shedeur Sanders twice, they'll lead the nation in total interceptions for the season. Jakob Robinson and Tanner Wall are both in the lead with three interceptions each, so the competition is on to be the top interceptor. A win against Colorado could push BYU into the record books yet again. They'd claim their 13th 11-win season and potentially rank in the end-of-season AP poll for the third time under coach Kalani Sitake.
