A clue came from a hidden part of macOS called AccessorySensorManager. A forum user named mactracker spotted references to sensors that could gather visual and environmental data from the earbuds. This does not prove a final product, but it shows what Apple might be experimenting with.

The code hints each bud could hold a camera that snaps still pictures up to one megapixel. It seems focused on still images rather than video. There may be two ways to capture: one triggered by Siri, another that quietly gathers low‑res info about sound, movement, or posture. A small light could flash when the camera is on, giving a visible sign.

Even if the tech works, the big question is social acceptance. Wearable cameras that sit in your ear all day feel invasive to many. Critics say they could be barred in workplaces, classrooms, or other sensitive spots.
