Bensalem has seen a big drop in catalytic converter thefts this year. Why? Because a family crime ring was caught. This ring was stealing these car parts in Bensalem and four other counties in the Philadelphia area. They sold thousands of these converters, making millions. With them behind bars, the crime rate has dropped from 31 reports in 2023 to just 6 so far this year. Police believe this family was responsible for the high number of thefts in 2023. Police worked together with the Bucks County District Attorney's Office and other law enforcement agencies to catch this family. They found out that TDI Towing was buying these stolen parts. TDI employees were paid $300 for each converter, adding up to nearly $8. 2 million in three years. This case shows how organized crime can affect a community. It also shows how important it is for different law enforcement agencies to work together to solve crimes.
