A group of scientists from the Netherlands wanted to see if chimps could change their minds when they see new evidence. They did some tests at a chimpanzee sanctuary in Uganda. The chimps had to pick between two boxes, one with an apple and one empty. The scientists gave them clues, like seeing the apple in the box or hearing it rattle. The chimps were good at picking the right box, especially when they got stronger clues later. In one test, the chimps had to choose between old and new weak evidence. They usually picked the old one, showing they could tell the difference. The scientists even tricked them with a picture of an apple, but the chimps still chose the reliable clues. The scientists were amazed. They found that chimps aren't just acting on emotions but can think things through. This shows that chimps are smarter than we thought. They might not be as smart as humans, but they're not as different as we assumed.
