Chris Brown, the popular R&B singer, has taken legal action against Warner Bros. Discovery and Ample Entertainment. He claims they defamed him in a 2024 documentary called Chris Brown: A History of Violence. The movie alleges that Brown has a long history of sexually abusing women. Brown's lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on January 21, says the documentary is full of false information. He believes the companies knew the stories were lies but released the documentary anyway to make money. The documentary features a woman known as Jane Doe, who accused Brown of sexual assault. Brown's lawsuit names her as a defendant. He says her claims were made up and that she has a history of violence herself. The lawsuit mentions a restraining order filed against her by an ex-boyfriend, showing she physically assaulted him. Brown's lawyers argue that the documentary ignored these facts and portrayed Jane Doe as a reliable source. They say this has caused harm to Brown's reputation and career. Brown is seeking $500 million in damages, some of which he plans to donate to survivors of sexual abuse.
