Earl Albert from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, has been through a tough time. He's the man who spent years growing the 74-foot tall Norway spruce that's this year's Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Sadly, he recently had a stroke and is in the hospital. His family says he might not see his beloved tree glow with 50, 000 multi-colored bulbs on the big day.
This is particularly sad because Earl planted the tree with his late wife, Leslie, way back in 1967, when they were newlyweds. He donated it to honor her memory. The tree is even more special because it's the first one from outside New York State since 1959.
Earl has been recovering in Albany, NY, hoping to be there for the lighting on December 4th. His family says he's eager to attend and is working hard on his recovery. It's a heartwarming tribute to his wife, which he calls "one of the greatest honors" of his life.
