The global box office is still buzzing with late 2024 releases, but Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King is making some serious noise. Despite starting off slow, the lion-hearted Disney film has now claimed the top spot for the sixth weekend in a row. With a global total of $626. 7 million, Mufasa is reigning supreme in many non-local markets like France, Germany, and Brazil. The film has already grossed $405. 6 million internationally, with France leading the pack at $38. 1 million. Meanwhile, Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is speeding ahead, breaking records left and right. Last weekend, it became the highest-grossing film in the franchise globally. Now, it has achieved the same feat on the international scene. With a haul of $10. 6 million this weekend, the movie’s overseas total stands at $220. 5 million, and its global total at $446. 6 million. It's no surprise that Paramount has already announced a Sonic 4. Over at Disney, Moana 2 continues its wave of success. After crossing the $1 billion mark last weekend, the film added another $5. 8 million internationally. Its worldwide total now sits at $1. 026 billion, making it the third-best Walt Disney Animation Studios release of all time. It's set to overtake Finding Dory and Despicable Me 3, becoming the ninth biggest animated film in global history. With these new records and achievements, the international box office is showing no signs of slowing down.
