In a surprising turn of events, an illegal immigrant from Mauritania was recently arrested in Indiana. He was driving a semi-truck with a Michigan commercial driver’s license. This incident raises serious questions about how illegal immigrants are obtaining these licenses and who is responsible for this oversight. The man, identified as Ahmed Nenni, entered the U. S. illegally through San Diego in September 2023. Despite this, he was released by the Biden administration. Nenni later married an American woman and settled in Shelby Township, Michigan. He was employed by Zain Express Inc. , a trucking company based in Dearborn, Michigan. The arrest of Nenni highlights a broader issue: the increasing number of illegal immigrants driving commercial vehicles in the U. S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently revealed that over 200, 000 illegal immigrants are driving semi-trucks across the country. This poses a significant risk to public safety, especially when many of these drivers do not speak English, making it difficult for them to understand road signs and communicate with law enforcement. The situation is further complicated by the fact that some states, like California, are issuing commercial driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. This practice has led to tragic accidents, such as the fiery crash in Florida caused by an illegal immigrant from India. The driver in that incident had obtained his license from California. The question of accountability is crucial. Should trucking companies be held responsible for hiring drivers with questionable licenses? Or should the secretaries of state who issued these licenses be held accountable? Michigan law clearly states that a valid commercial driver’s license can only be issued to someone who is a legal U. S. resident. Yet, Nenni managed to obtain one, raising doubts about the effectiveness of the current system. The arrest of Nenni is part of a larger effort by the Department of Homeland Security to remove illegal immigrants from U. S. roads. Operation Midway Blitz has resulted in the arrest of over 140 illegal alien truck drivers in Indiana. This operation underscores the need for stricter regulations and better enforcement to ensure that only qualified drivers are operating commercial vehicles.
