Education Board Candidates Keep Their Finances in Check

Columbia’s upcoming board election is almost here, and all four contenders have met the deadline for their financial disclosures. The Missouri Ethics Commission received the reports by 5 p. m. on Monday, giving voters a clear view of each candidate’s fundraising status. There are four hopefuls vying for three open seats: the current Board President, John Lyman; Vice‑President Paul Harper; long‑time member April Ferrao; and newcomer Dr. Keary Husain. Lyman has collected a modest $500 so far, leaving him with $695 in cash as the campaign nears its end. Harper has outpaced his rivals, raising $1 473 and holding $1 060. 01 on hand. Ferrao’s totals are even higher, with $1 612. 99 raised and $1 170. 25 available. Husain, who is attempting to secure his first position on the board, has raised $690 and retains $500 in reserves.Voters can expect to see the final results on Tuesday, April 7.
