The Emmy Awards are back, and this year's nominations are making waves. Leading the pack is "Severance" from Apple TV+, with a whopping 27 nods. Close behind is HBO Max's "The Penguin" with 24, while "The Studio" and "The White Lotus" are tied at 23 each.
HBO Max is having a great year, snagging the most nominations overall with 142. Netflix and Apple TV+ are also in the mix with 120 and 81 nominations respectively. Warner Bros. Television Group is celebrating too, with 60 nominations—the highest for any TV studio this year.
The nominations were announced by Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén, and comedian Nate Bargatze will host the big show on September 14. The list of nominees is packed with some of the biggest names in TV.
In the drama series category, "Andor, " "The Last of Us, " and "Severance" are all in the running. For comedy, "Abbott Elementary, " "The Bear, " and "Hacks" are among the top contenders. Limited series like "The Penguin" and "Black Mirror" are also making a splash.
The acting categories are just as competitive. Pedro Pascal from "The Last of Us" and Adam Scott from "Severance" are up for lead actor in a drama. In comedy, Quinta Brunson from "Abbott Elementary" and Jason Segel from "Shrinking" are in the spotlight.
Reality shows like "The Traitors" and "RuPaul’s Drag Race" are up for best reality/competition series. Talk shows and variety specials are also part of the mix, with "The Daily Show" and the Super Bowl Halftime Show starring Kendrick Lamar getting nods.
The Emmy Awards are a big deal, and this year's nominations show just how much great TV is out there. From drama to comedy, reality to variety, there's something for everyone.
