Europeans Share Their Views on AI Heart Care

A new survey asked heart patients in six European countries what they think about using smart technology and personalized treatment for serious heart conditions. The aim was to see whether their comfort with digital tools lines up with how doctors apply AI to predict risk and decide on implantable heart devices.

The study used a simple questionnaire that included short videos and standard questions. Anyone aged 18 or older who lived in the selected nations and reported at least one relevant health issue could join. This work was part of the PROFID project, which examines the ethical side of using risk prediction scores and AI when planning sudden cardiac death prevention and ICD implantation.

Findings revealed that patients who trusted digital tools were more open to AI‑driven risk scores and tailored therapy. Those who were doubtful viewed the technology as less useful for stopping sudden heart events. In other words, patient attitudes strongly influence how acceptable AI‑supported heart care feels.

These insights give doctors and policymakers a clear picture of how to introduce AI and personalized medicine in a way that patients actually accept, making life‑saving tools safer and more effective.
