Over the weekend, while Los Angeles was grappling with destructive wildfires, the FBI stopped by actor Ben Affleck's Brentwood home. They weren't there for a chat but to look for something specific: security footage of an unauthorized drone. This drone had caused trouble during the Palisades wildfire by colliding with a firefighting aircraft, leaving a hole in its wing. The FBI was hoping that Affleck's cameras might have caught something useful.
FBI agents and LAPD officers visited Affleck's home on Sunday, as reported by Page Six. They were checking the neighborhood for any security footage that could help in their investigation. This drone incident was serious, as it had interfered with crucial firefighting efforts.
The FBI set up a tip line for anyone with information about the drone. They explained that the drone had violated a temporary flight restriction and collided with the aircraft, known as a "super scooper, " while it was working on the Palisades Fire near Malibu.
An FBI source told Page Six that more visits to local homes might happen as they continue to look into this unauthorized drone activity. Meanwhile, Affleck had evacuated to his ex-wife Jennifer Garner's home due to the wildfire but was able to return safely.
The wildfires have been devastating, with at least 24 lives lost and over 12, 000 structures destroyed. High winds have kept the danger level high, with red flag warnings in place until Wednesday.
