A tragic fire has struck a popular ski resort in northwestern Turkey, taking the lives of 66 people and injuring 51 others. The blaze broke out early in the morning at a 12-story hotel in the Kartalkaya resort, Bolu province, trapping guests and forcing some to jump out of windows to escape. The hotel's rocky cliff location made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish the flames, adding to the chaos.
Holidaymakers described a scene filled with fear and desperation, with guests screaming and no fire extinguishers in sight. The timing of the fire was especially devastating, as it occurred during the school holidays when the resort is usually busy. Local authorities sent over 30 fire trucks and 28 ambulances to help, while also evacuating other hotels in the resort as a precaution.
This disaster has raised questions about safety measures in the resort and the timely response of emergency services. It serves as a harsh reminder of the importance of proper fire safety protocols in public places.
