Let's talk about the exciting sports action that unfolded last Friday night. In the world of high school football, two big games caught our attention. First, there was Jackson County Central against Kimball in the Class 2A semi-final. Brandon Henkemeyer, a star player from Kimball, really shined. He scored two passing touchdowns and even ran one in himself. Not to be outdone, Bryant Knaus from Kimball kicked off the night with a bang by returning a kickoff for a touchdown. Despite their efforts, Jackson County Central came out on top with a score of 34-26.
Over in the Class 5A semi-final, Chanhassen took on Elk River. Benjamin Hickman from Elk River made a huge play with a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown. This amazing move helped Elk River edge out Chanhassen with a final score of 21-19.
Now, let's switch gears to girls' hockey. St. Cloud faced off against Anoka, with the final score being 2-4 in favor of Anoka. Reese Ruska and Molly Burkstrand each scored a goal for St. Cloud's team, the Crush. Another exciting hockey game was between Morris/Benson and Princeton/Big Lake/Becker. Morris/Benson didn't manage to score, but Princeton/Big Lake/Becker had a hat trick of goals from Kayelyn Chafee, Isabel Skarohlid, and Ava Prosser. They won the game 3-0.
