Fox Joins Growing Coalition Calling for Responsible AI in Entertainment

Fox Entertainment just signed on to the Alliance for Responsible Innovation in the Arts & Media. The coalition, known as ARIAM, already includes big names like Disney, the New York Times, and Adobe. Now Fox wants a seat at the table too.

The group pushes for smart rules around AI. They want the tech to help people, not replace them. Jennifer Jones, a top Fox executive, said the company sees real promise in AI. She believes it can boost creativity and help tell better stories. Fox also wants to make sure the tech gets used the right way.

ARIAM started up recently. It was created by Victoria Furniss, who used to work at Netflix and Warner Bros. She built the group to give media companies a shared voice on AI policy. Since launching, she has talked with leaders in Europe and even weighed in on new rules in Australia. The coalition is now getting noticed by governments and regulators.

Furniss said the timing worked out well. AI is moving fast, and lots of companies are scrambling to figure it out. She thinks ARIAM can help shape how the rules get written. Fox joining the group sends a strong signal. It shows the company wants to be part of the conversation, not ignore the risks.

Fox is already using AI in some of its work. The company invested in a startup called Holywater and built a tool called Fox AdStudio. These moves show Fox is not afraid of new tech. But joining ARIAM makes it clear they want guardrails too. The group is also looking at new members from gaming and sports. They are even talking about issues like child actors and voice rights. AI misuse with kids is a growing worry, especially for groups like Disney. Furniss said that kind of problem fits right into what ARIAM cares about.
