The Citadel Bulldogs showed off their shooting skills in a recent game against North Greenville University. Freshman Marcos Gonzales stole the spotlight, scoring a career-high 20 points. He was not alone, as three Bulldogs scored in double figures, leading their team to a 70-57 win. The Bulldogs started strong, hitting their first three 3-pointers. This early burst put them ahead by 14 points in just seven minutes. Gonzales was a standout, making six out of seven shots, including both of his 3-point attempts. North Greenville struggled to keep up, trailing by double digits for most of the game. They managed to get within 11 points in the second half but couldn't close the gap. Keynan Davis and Eze Wali also contributed, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively. The Bulldogs' bench played a crucial role, outscoring North Greenville's substitutes 26-16. This was a significant improvement from last season, where the Bulldogs were the worst free-throw shooting team in the Southern Conference. This time, they made 13 out of 19 free throws, a 68% success rate. The Bulldogs also had a slight edge in rebounds, finishing with 32 compared to North Greenville's 30. They shot 47. 9% from the floor and 39. 3% from beyond the 3-point arc. The turning point of the game was the first seven minutes. The Bulldogs scored on their first five possessions, while North Greenville took nearly eight minutes to score their first points. This early lead set the tone for the rest of the game. The Bulldogs will have a weekend off before facing Bellarmine on Nov. 24 at McAlister Field House. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p. m.
