Election days are near, and so is a fall in gas prices. Analysts say we might soon see prices below $3 per gallon for the first time since 2021. Here’s what else is happening across the globe.
Vice President Kamala Harris wrapped up her campaign's final speech in Washington D. C. , the same spot where former President Trump's supporters were urged to "fight like hell" before the Capitol riot. Harris presented voters with a choice between a country rooted in freedom or chaos and division. She also took the chance to address immigration, calling it a challenge that needs solving, not a political weapon.
In Atlanta, an active shooter caused chaos at a Four Seasons Hotel. After an altercation with a hotel employee, the 70-year-old suspect fired multiple shots from a handgun, shotgun, and rifle. Police took him into custody without any fatalities.
A deadly Israeli airstrike in Gaza raised concerns. Over 90 people, including 25 children, were killed when a multistory building was targeted. Israel said they were aiming for a suspected terrorist but are still investigating why so many were in the area. The strike followed a ban on UN operations, sparking international criticism.
Southern and eastern Spain faced severe flooding, with at least 51 deaths reported. Heavy rain led to flooded streets, damaged buildings, and swept-away cars. Rescue efforts are ongoing as rainfall warnings remain in effect.
McDonald's is working to win back customers after an E. coli outbreak. Visits dropped nationwide, with a bigger hit in Colorado where the outbreak was most severe. The fast-food chain plans to promote value meals and chicken Big Macs, and Quarter Pounders are back on menus after testing negative for E. coli.
