In the midst of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Israeli soldiers raided Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza. The military reported capturing around 100 suspected Hamas militants during the raid, which took place on Friday and ended on Saturday. Among those arrested were individuals disguised as medical staff. The soldiers found weapons, funds, and intelligence documents in the hospital. Gaza's health ministry had a different story. They claimed that Israeli forces detained dozens of male medical staffers and caused significant damage to the hospital, which was already struggling due to heavy raids in the area. Footage shared by the health ministry showed damaged buildings after the Israeli forces withdrew. A military official explained that troops had to cause limited damage to enter the hospital and destroy "dual use" equipment like oxygen tanks to prevent them from being used as weapons. Medical staff refused to evacuate, and hundreds of displaced Palestinians were sheltering there. Mayssoun Alian, a hospital nurse, described the evacuation as humiliating for the men who were separated from women and made to queue without clothes. The military said that after checking the arrested men for weapons, they were given clothes. Tragically, at least two children died in the intensive care unit after Israeli fire hit the hospital's generators and oxygen station on Friday. The military maintained that civilians at the hospital were kept safe despite the fighting and that they provided necessary supplies.
