Going to a school that’s supposed to be a safe haven, only to be hit by a strike. That’s what happened in Gaza this week. A school serving as a shelter for people fleeing their homes was bombed, killing 27 people. Israel said they were targeting militants, but there’s no proof yet. This isn’t the first time a school in Gaza has been hit. Israel says militants use these places to hide, but critics argue it’s an excuse to target civilians.
Meanwhile, in Lebanon, things are heating up too. The UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon had their headquarters hit by an Israeli tank. Two peacekeepers were hurt. Israel said they’re looking into it. But UNIFIL, the peacekeeping force, says their positions have been hit repeatedly.
Let's talk about the big picture. Israel is fighting on two fronts: against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. They’re also dealing with tensions with Iran. It’s a complex situation with many sides and lots of lives at stake. Over 42,000 Palestinians have died in the conflict, and over a million people in Lebanon have been displaced.
It’s important to ask questions and think critically about these events. Why are these places being targeted? Who’s really being protected? And how can we work towards peace?
