Good Good Golf Faces Firings Over Controversial Ad
Good Good Golf, which started as a YouTube channel in 2020, now has a new interim leader. Board member and investor Nahid Giga stepped in after CEO Matt Kendrick and president Joe Flannery were removed. Finance chief Alex Puchala told the staff about the changes in a memo.
The trouble began on August 21 when an ad for a new driver, co‑branded with Callaway, was posted. The clip showed co‑founder Garrett Clark pushing Alexis Miestowski to the ground as she tried to grab the club. He then warned her not to touch his new driver while standing over her.
Fans quickly condemned the violent act, leading to apologies from both Callaway and Good Good. Callaway cut ties with the brand, and Kendrick publicly criticized the club on social media. Because of the fallout, Good Good lost its title role for the November PGA Tour event in Austin, Texas. The Golf Channel cancelled a new version of Big Break that was planned with the company. Retailers such as Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy pulled the products from their shelves.
Puchala’s note to employees said the community’s backing means a lot. He said the team will stay focused on moving forward and creating the next chapter. The company hopes to rebuild trust and keep growing.
