GOP Leaders Break With Trump Over Iran War Timeline

Voters are getting restless about the economy and foreign policy. A recent poll shows that nearly six-fifths of registered Americans think Trump's approach to the economy has harmed the country. Meanwhile, more than half of those surveyed feel the military action against Iran hasn't been justified. This mix of frustration is pushing Republican candidates away from their leader.

Several candidates across different states have publicly called for ending the Iran conflict sooner rather than later. In Iowa, Representative Ashley Hinson demanded an immediate ceasefire even though she had previously voted against restrictions on the war. Two other Iowa Republicans, Zach Nunn and Mariannette Miller-Meeks, recently changed their votes to support a resolution limiting Trump's war powers. In Michigan, former Representative Mike Rogers posted a video urging the conflict to conclude quickly. Another Michigan gubernatorial hopeful named John James echoed the call for speed, telling reporters that the war needed to end fast.

This rift isn't isolated to Iran. Across the nation, GOP candidates are taking bold steps to distance themselves from the president. In Florida, Representative Maria Elvira Salazar ran an advertisement attacking Trump's immigration policies. Similarly, Byron Donalds removed almost all references to the president from his campaign website. Even Senator John Curtis of Utah pushed for investigations into family members of the president involved in questionable deals. These moves suggest a growing split within the party as voters prioritize domestic issues over foreign commitments.
