A Halloween party in North Carolina took a tragic turn when gunfire erupted, leaving two people dead and several others hurt. The incident happened early Saturday morning in a rural area near Maxton, a small town in Robeson County. Over 300 people were at the party, which ranged in age from young kids to adults in their 50s. The trouble started when two groups at the party got into a fight. Things quickly escalated, and shots were fired. A 16-year-old boy and a 47-year-old man lost their lives. Several others were badly injured, with one person rushed to a hospital outside the county for emergency care. No one has been arrested yet, but the sheriff's office is looking into several people who might know something about what happened. It's believed that more than one person was shooting, and multiple guns were used. Over 150 people ran away before the police arrived. The sheriff said that the police didn't know about the party beforehand because it didn't meet the size requirements for needing a permit or security. He also made sure to say that there's no ongoing threat to the community. The sheriff's office is asking anyone who was there or knows anything to come forward and help with the investigation.
