Halo: Campaign Evolved is making waves, and it's not just another remake. This is a full-blown rebuild of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, using Unreal Engine 5. It's set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and surprisingly, PlayStation 5. Yes, you read that right. Halo is coming to PS5, and it's not just a rumor. The game is expected to hit shelves in Fall 2026, around the time of the original's 25th anniversary. But what's new? Well, for starters, the game is packed with new features. Vehicles are now destructible and can be hijacked, just like in later Halo games. You can also pick up and use any weapon the enemies have, including the iconic Energy Sword. The Warthog has been upgraded to four seats, and you can even pilot a Wraith tank. Plus, the Flood enemies now have dismemberment, adding a whole new level of gore to the game. The game also includes a three-mission prequel story arc, focusing on Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. However, details about these missions are still under wraps. The game's level design has been updated to smooth out some of the original's pain points, and all cinematics have been redone with new motion capture and dialogue. One of the most exciting additions is the inclusion of Skulls. Halo Studios is adding dozens of them, the most ever in a Halo campaign. These Skulls offer various challenges and rewards, adding a layer of replayability to the game. But what about multiplayer? Unfortunately, this game is campaign-only. However, it does support campaign co-op for up to four players online, with cross-play enabled. This means you can team up with friends on different platforms. As for the price, it's still unclear, but given the lack of multiplayer, a $50 price tag seems reasonable.
