Big snow is coming to several states, and people need to be ready. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned that up to 16 inches of snow could fall in some areas. This heavy snowfall is expected to make driving tricky, so everyone should be careful. In Washington state, the NWS says Western Okanogan County could get between 4 and 8 inches of snow at lower elevations. But higher up, above 5, 000 feet, there could be 8 to 16 inches. Washington Pass is expected to get the most snow, around 13 to 16 inches, making driving conditions tough. Wyoming is also bracing for heavy snow, especially in the Absaroka, Teton, and Gros Ventre Mountains. These areas could see 6 to 10 inches of snow, mainly above 8, 000 feet. The worst of the weather is expected to hit on Sunday night. In Idaho and Montana, places like the southern Clearwater Mountains, west Glacier Region, and Bitterroot/Sapphire Mountains could get up to 5 inches of snow above 5, 000 feet. In some remote, higher areas, there could be 7 to 12 inches. The NWS warns that dirt roads could become dangerous after heavy rain followed by snow. The NWS issues winter weather advisories when freezing rain or 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected. This can cause significant inconveniences, even if it's not bad enough to warrant a warning. People are already talking about the upcoming snow. The NWS office in Great Falls, Montana, said on X that a cold front was moving through, bringing rain that would turn into snow. They advised people to be ready for quick changes in visibility. The NWS office in Spokane, Washington, said on X that the weather would change over the weekend. Rain and mountain snow are expected, with stronger winds making conditions even worse, especially on SR-20 toward Washington Pass. The NWS office in Riverton, Wyoming, said on X that warmer temperatures and strong winds were expected on Sunday. Mountain snow would push in west of the Divide later in the day and overnight, affecting passes like Togwotee. As of now, the latest winter weather advisory is in place until noon on Monday. Everyone in these areas should stay alert and be prepared for the snow.
