Helldivers 2 Adds Upscaling, But PS5 Pro Fans Miss the Latest Tech
USAFri May 22 2026
Helldivers 2 will get new technical updates on May 27, bringing long‑awaited upscaling options to PC and consoles. The release promises better stability, lower latency, and clearer visuals.
PC players can now choose from NVIDIA DLSS 4. 5, AMD FSR 4. 0. 3 (for high‑end GPUs), FSR 3. 1. 5, and XeSS 3. 0.
PlayStation 5 users get FSR 3. 1, while the newer PS5 Pro version only receives PSSR 1 support—an outcome that many expect will improve later.
Xbox Series X also gets FSR 3. 1, matching the PS5’s upgrade.
In addition to upscaling, the update introduces Variable Refresh Rate on both PS5 models to smooth gameplay without tearing.
Variable Rate Shading reduces GPU load in less critical areas, keeping performance high while preserving image quality.
Dynamic Resolution Scaling is added for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC to maintain frame rates during intense scenes.
Resolution settings now allow 1440p in the “Performance” mode on PS5 and Xbox, plus a higher quality option for PS5 Power Saving Mode.
These changes are just the start. Arrowhead plans a further tech‑focused patch for summer, monitoring hardware performance after launch to fine‑tune the experience.
