High school teams in the Green Bay area had a busy Friday night with basketball and hockey games. The Bay Port Pirates showed their dominance on the court, beating Oshkosh West by 13 points. Sawyer Durkee was the standout player, scoring 19 points, while JT Meyer grabbed eight rebounds. Oshkosh West's Joey Ware and Malakai Herlihy put up a good fight, scoring 14 and 13 points respectively.
In another game, Marinette's Conner Eastman had a standout performance, scoring 24 points to lead his team to a 65-56 victory over Crivitz. Eastman's 15 points in the second half were crucial in securing the win. Crivitz's Kade Thomas also had a strong game, scoring 24 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome Marinette's lead.
Peshtigo's Bulldogs had a commanding win over Coleman, leading by 19 points at halftime and finishing with a 75-40 victory. Kolton Peters was the top scorer for Coleman with 17 points, but the Bulldogs' strong defense kept them in check.
On the girls' basketball side, De Pere's Redbirds had a balanced team effort with 10 players scoring in their 67-34 win over Oconomowoc. Abby Tassoul led the team with 17 points, while Aubree Fischer and Addie Dwyer also contributed significantly. Oconomowoc's Amelia Van der Kooy scored 13 points, but her team couldn't keep up with the Redbirds' pace.
Oostburg's Flying Dutchmen had a close game against Notre Dame, winning by just one point, 43-42. The Ketterhagen sisters were the stars of the game, scoring 29 of the team's points combined. Notre Dame's Destiny Webster scored 13 points, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.
Denmark's Vikings had a strong performance, beating Southern Door by 47 points. Allie VanVonderen scored 14 points, and Paige Vogel and Alison Lindsley each added 12 points. Shae Kraschnewski had a notable performance with 10 rebounds. Southern Door's Chelsie Jacquet scored five points, but her team struggled to keep up.
In boys' hockey, De Pere's Voyageurs had an exciting game against KMMO, winning 4-2. Griffin Wehausen and Austin Lee scored the crucial goals in the third period to break the tie. De Pere's goalie, Chase Van De Ven, made 25 saves, contributing to the team's victory.
Wausau West's Warriors had a strong second period, scoring four goals to beat Notre Dame 5-4. Trevor Szkodzinski, Jack O’Brien, Braeden Hart, and Owen Atkinson all scored goals for Notre Dame, but their efforts weren't enough to secure the win.
Shawano/Bonduel's team had a shutout victory over Chequamegon/Phillips/Butternut, winning 4-0. Gavin Hundt was the standout player, scoring three goals and adding an assist. The team's goalie, Tyson Lyons, made 16 saves to keep the opposing team from scoring.
