High School Sports: Wednesday's Thrilling Wins & Thursday's Busy Schedule

Buffalo and Sauk Rapids-Rice boys basketball teams battled it out in a double overtime game on Wednesday. The original game was planned for Tuesday but was rescheduled. The final score was 90-87 in favor of Buffalo. Over in the hockey rink, Cathedral crushed Princeton with a 7-5 win. John Hirschfeld played a key role with two goals and five assists. Other goal scorers included Bo Schmidt, Jaeger Wood, Mason Layne, and Joey Gillespie. Cathedral outshot Princeton 61-18 and now has a record of 10-7-2. They'll face Little Falls next Tuesday.
Looking ahead, Thursday promises a packed schedule. In boys basketball, Alexandria will play at Tech, Sauk Rapids-Rice at ROCORI, Apollo at Sartell-St. Stephen, Pequot Lakes at Cathedral, Chisago Lakes at Becker, Royalton at Maple Lake, ACGC at Kimball, BBE at Paynesville, Eden Valley-Watkins at Holdingford, St. John's Prep at LPGE, Little Falls at Albany, and Pierz at Milaca.
Girls basketball games on Thursday include Becker at Chisago Lakes, Kimball at HLWW, Paynesville at Litchfield, Morris at Melrose, Royalton at Upsala, and Pequot Lakes at Little Falls.
For boys hockey, Moorhead will face St. Cloud Crush, and Fergus Falls will play against Sauk Rapids-Rice. Girls hockey matches will see Sartell-Sauk Rapids take on Fergus Falls and River Lakes play against St. Cloud Crush.
