In a recent poll, many people in Australia, Japan, and India think that U. S. President Donald Trump's second term has not been good for their countries. The survey, which included 1, 000 people from each of the Quad countries—Australia, Japan, India, and the U. S. —showed that 56% of Australians, 54% of Indians, and 59% of Japanese feel this way. Interestingly, the poll also found that fewer Australians now believe that the U. S. alliance makes their country safer. In fact, only 42% of Australians think this, which is a big drop from previous years. Similarly, in Japan, the number of people who feel secure because of the U. S. alliance has also decreased, falling to 47%. The survey also highlighted concerns about political violence and misinformation in the U. S. Many people in Australia and India see the U. S. as more harmful than helpful in Asia. Despite these concerns, support for maintaining alliances with the U. S. remains strong. When it comes to China, negative views persist. Many people in Australia, the U. S. , Japan, and India see China as harmful rather than helpful in Asia. Japanese respondents were particularly critical, with 59% saying their country's handling of China is too weak. The poll also looked at the AUKUS partnership, which involves nuclear-powered submarines shared between Australia, Britain, and the U. S. While there is support for this partnership, only 27% of Australians think their government has explained why these submarines are necessary.
