Over the past weekend, TikTok briefly stopped working, causing a stir among users. In response, Instagram's lead, Adam Mosseri, announced a new app called “Edits” that might fill the gap left by CapCut, another app by ByteDance that's currently banned. This new app, due to launch next month, will let creators edit videos on their phones with better tools and even get insights on how their videos perform on Instagram. You can save drafts and share them with others, too.
“Edits” is already available for pre-order on iOS, but what about Android users? Mosseri hinted that Android users won't have to wait much longer, saying “Android is coming soon. ” He also mentioned that the app won't launch until February. So, it seems likely that Android users will get the app next month.
In the meantime, CapCut, a video editing app by ByteDance, is still banned in the US. TikTok got back online quickly, but other apps like CapCut and Marvel Snap are still not available for download from the Play Store.
