Apple has rolled out iOS 26. 1, bringing a mix of new features and tweaks to iPhones. One standout addition is the Liquid Glass toggle, which lets users switch between clear and tinted backgrounds for notifications and tab bars. This option is tucked away in the Display & Brightness settings, joining other accessibility features like increased contrast and reduced transparency.
For those tired of accidentally opening the Camera app, iOS 26. 1 offers a solution. Users can now disable the swipe-to-open Camera gesture on the lock screen. This gesture, which has evolved over the years, can be turned off in the Camera settings, preventing unwanted launches.
The update also introduces support for more languages in Apple Intelligence and AirPods Live Translation. Apple Intelligence now supports Chinese (traditional), Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, and Vietnamese. AirPods Live Translation adds Chinese (Mandarin simplified and traditional), Italian, Japanese, and Korean to its lineup.
Apple is also rebranding its streaming service from Apple TV+ to Apple TV, complete with a new icon. The Settings app has been updated with a Local Capture section, allowing users to choose where their recordings are saved and toggle audio-only capture.
Other changes include an improved alarm dismissal interface and a swipe gesture for changing songs in the Music app. iOS 26. 1 is available for iPhone 11 and later models, including the iPhone SE 2 and iPhone Air.
