Israel's leaders are thinking about taking full control of Gaza. This hasn't happened in 20 years. They might do this even though other countries want them to stop fighting and make peace. The war in Gaza started when Hamas attacked Israel last year. Since then, there has been a lot of fighting. Israel's government is very right-wing. Some people in the government want to take over Gaza and the West Bank. They also want Palestinians to leave their homes. Israel's military doesn't want to take over Gaza for a long time. They are having trouble with having enough soldiers. The war has been going on for a long time. Many soldiers have been called to fight again and again. The fighting has caused a lot of problems in Gaza. Over 60, 000 people have died. Almost everyone in Gaza has had to leave their home. There is not enough food. Some countries are very angry about this. They might recognize Palestine as a country if the fighting doesn't stop. Israel's tanks went into central Gaza. It's not clear if this is the start of a bigger attack. People in Gaza are scared. They don't know where they can go if Israel takes over more of Gaza. Some people think Israel is threatening to take over Gaza to make Hamas agree to peace talks. But Hamas wants the war to end and Israel to leave Gaza. They won't agree to less than that. Israel says they will let more goods into Gaza. Some trucks have already brought in chocolates and biscuits. People hope that more important things like milk, meat, and fruits will be allowed in. This could help with the food shortage. The U. S. is working with Israel on a plan to end the war. But Israel is also thinking about expanding the fight and taking over parts of Gaza. The peace talks in Doha didn't work. They wanted a 60-day truce. During this time, aid would be brought into Gaza. Half of the hostages Hamas is holding would be freed. In exchange, Palestinian prisoners in Israel would be released. Israel's military might present new plans today. These plans could include going into areas of Gaza where they haven't fought yet.
